A few weeks ago a lovely mom named Melissa gave me a call. Her daughter was getting engaged and she wanted me to be there to document this special moment. I immediately said yes and we started chatting about the surprise details. I was to meet Melissa and the family under the St. Louis Arch around 10:30am on a Saturday morning. From there we would wait for her daughter, Morgan, and her boyfriend/soon to be fiancé, Ben, as they walked toward the arch. I was to try and take pictures without Morgan noticing (Ben knew of this plan) and then follow them to the spot Ben would propose. Well, somehow Ben took a slight off road trip and ended up in the middle of the green on the arch grounds….not exactly on the path were I was supposed to follow them. As soon as I spotted the couple I took off RUNNING! You think I am joking but I’m not. This first picture shows how far AWAY I was from the couple…not exactly what we all had in mind. Thankfully, Ben did a great job stalling and waited for me to get a little closer.
Here is a shot as I made my way up the Arch grounds toward the couple.
I am thankful to say that I made it JUST in time to capture Ben get down on one knee and propose. Let me also say that I had to shoot through tears as this engagement session was so sweet. It reminded me a lot of my own special engagement 11 years ago…ahhh. Ok, back to Morgan and Ben.
She was so surprised and it was so sweet to witness.
She is accepting the ring!!!
I’m pretty sure this was the moment she said YES!!
Absolutely adorable.
After this special moment the family came over to share their love and excitement with the couple. Again, Morgan was completely surprised and it was such a special moment to witness.
Here is the family celebrating with them.
Morgan and Ben – engaged to be married!!
One more thing – look at that ring!! Its stunning. Every detail is perfect. Ben, you did good!!
